As you may know, due to COVID-19, the Italian Welfare League had to make the difficult decision to postpone this year’s highly anticipated 100th Centennial Celebration until 2021.

This year, the Itallian Welfare League will have a virtual event on Oct 24 at 12 noon. The event is free. You can register here >>

In its 100 year history, the Italian Welfare League has gone from helping Italian immigrants on the New York City piers find jobs and housing to its present mission of helping children of Italian American descent who are ill or have suffered an emotional trauma. We call these youngsters “I Nostri Bambini,” and have adopted them into our organization of caring members and supporters.

Since 2001, the League has raised and distributed more than $2,000,000 to nearly 2,000 children and has given grants to several organizations which provide services to children. Some of our recipients are children with Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Down Syndrome, brain injury and Epidermolysis Bullosa. Others have cancer, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, or are accident victims. Also, many of our recipients have lost a parent under tragic circumstances.

The League’s mission is to lend a helping hand to those bambini most needy within “la Famiglia”.

A very generous donation of $30,000 from the Francesco & Mary Giambelli Foundation has enabled us to launch a “Bridge the Gap” campaign. Our event will feature presentations by our Bambini grant recipients, music and a paddle raise at the end to support this campaign
