The good news is that Italian geologists have successfully regrounded the beloved Leaning Tower in the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. Two decades ago experts realized that the famous medieval tower was tending to lean farther and faster than in the past, and risked a sudden and unpredictable collapse. Today evidence is that an experimental, non-invasive technique has brought a radical improvement, and the present Tower inclination is what it was in 1800. The bad news: over the past year seismic activity throughout Italy has doubled. A solution could be to reinforce Italy's countless historic structures.
