  • Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) kicks off New Jersey’s first annual, international theater festival with Jazz Italiano, an intimate, black-box theater concert by IDR_Italian Doc Remix, the internationally acclaimed ensemble known for its vibrant combination of cutting-edge jazz improvisations and traditional Neapolitan folk music. On January 27, Giornata della memoria, we gathered outside the Consulate General of Italy on Park Avenue to read the names of the thousands of Italian Jewish victims of the Holocaust. This year the traditional ceremony is enrich with a new feature: the invitation to the public is not just the one to read, but to play music as a counterpoint to the ongoing reading. Among the performing artists, guitarist and arranger Brandon Ross, composer and conductor Lawrence "Butch" Morris, multi-instrumentalist Avram Fefer, guitarist Marco Cappelli, bass player Bernd Klug, and musician Mauro Pagani who will play the violin.

    Sorrow, confusion and rage are all familiar feelings to those who witnessed the attacks of 9/11, 2001. Comics writer Art Spiegelman told his story and inspired Italian musician Marco Cappelli for the creation of a multi-media project that puts together, images, music and narration. John Turturro makes the perfect voice, while an Italian version is also presented with actor Enzo Salomone. There will be a screening of Mode’s just released DVD to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11, In the Shadow of No Towers, @ the Italian Cultural Institute in New York , Tuesday, November 15, 2011 - 6 pm
  • WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company, composer Marco Cappelli and designer Anna Kiraly present a unique portrait of human emotions weaving together panoramic video images, a live performance of an original composition for guitars and electronics, and the fluid dramatic movement of a fluid 11-member ensemble.
