This event is part of a series of programs offering a new reading of the Fascist mindset and policies on race and minorities. Focusing on the 1920 persecution of the Slovenians and the anti-Jewish Laws of the 1938, a distinguished international panel of historians and literary critics will discuss the construction of post-war memory and recent historiographical perspectives. Roundtable discussion with Joze Pirjevec (University of Primorska, Slovenia), Annie Cohen-Solal (New York University), Uri Cohen (Columbia University), Moderated by Michael Biggins (University of Washington Libraries).

Growing up in Trenton, New Jersey, in the mid-1980s, filmmaker, Fred Zara went by the name Fred Fatal, played drums in a punk-rock band called Prisoners of War, and managed to get kicked out of high school before reaching the 10th grade. While visiting his hometown on the occasion of the Trenton Film Festival, he decided to confront his troubled past and the troubled people in it.

The Fall 2010 concert series at Columbia University's Italian Academy for Advanced Studies will present harpsichordist Andrew Appel in a program featuring music of Bargello, Galuppi, and Platti, and songs by Hasse with tenor Thomas Cooley.
