Three centuries of Italian music

April 7-10, 2011 – BargeMusic, New York

For the first time in New York, this four-concerts series provides a wide selection of the best Italian piano music written in three centuries, from 1710 to 2010. Each concert presents pieces written in different times, combined in carefully balanced programs. Several rarities and first US performances. The programs will comprise two pieces written by Rossini in 1861 in occasion of the unification of Italy.

The lecture will address the complex syntax and vocabulary of the political parliamentary language used in Italy. It is based on the outcome of a recent research project conducted by Piemontese and Villani on spoken Italian.(www.parlaritaliano.it)Mrs. Emanuela Piemontese is a professor of the Teaching of Modern Languages at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Her research interest include the study of the comprehension of written text and research on criteria to be adopted towards efficient public and institutional written communication.

Young eyes is a photo exhibit that will take you in a fascinating journey in our everyday life. Each photo is a moment, a stolen moment that surrounds us daily and that we do not notice. The artists eyes have captured these moments, and these moments have been seen at the same time by children. They will paint to show us what we have been missing and what they see in every photos, so that we can see again the simplicity, the beauty of life with no prejudice.
