Carlo Petrini is the founder of the International Slow Food Movement, which for 20 years has waged a war on mass-produced meals.
In October 2004 he founded the first University of Gastronomic Sciences (Pollenzo, Italy), a school committed to bridging the gap between agriculture and gastronomy and specifically devoted to the study the inextricable link between food and culture.

Affected by the anti-Jewish persecutions of the Fascist regime, Giorgio Bassani expressed in his works his quest for achieving stylistic perfection while demonstrating his moral, intellectual and political sensitivity. The Garden of the Finzi-Continis, the most famous novel of Bassani, explores these themes and offers a truthful picture of bourgeoisie life in Ferrara. Bassani also spent much time traveling abroad. The United States was one of his favorite destinations.

Through the Young Italian Film Directors Prize, the Italian Cultural Institute of New York aims to reaffirm its strong interest in Italian cinema. The winning directors Silvia Luzi, Luca Bellino and Fabio Mollo, will attend. At this event they have the opportunity to get acquainted with significant American cinema representatives and to present their works to high profile experts. This program will also enable them to live a unique experience in the city that has always been an ideal setting for cinema. Luca Bellino is director and professor of documentary cinema at University of Rome III.

As a result of the strong public interest, the duration of the exhibition has been extended to August 31st.A Frame work program of events on slow living. The lectures will explore Italian society and its deep change after the Second World War through the lens of Italian cinema. The research by the scholars from the University of Salerno is focused on the films by Luchino Visconti and by Massimo Troisi, and on the relationship between movies and the Italian pop and rock culture from the 60s to the 80s.
