The Italian American Writers' Association (IAWA) joins the Canadian Italian Writers Association as IAWA celebrates its 19th anniversary with award-winning authors John Calabro of Toronto and Gil Fagiani of New York, both of whose works take readers and listers on extraordinary cultural jouneys from Sicily to East Harlem. Readings begin with an open mic followed by two featured authors.

Elisa Infosino, freelance writer, will deliver a lecture about Dr. Montessori's life and legacy. Dr. Montessori developed the Montessori Method of education and was the first Italian female physician. Power point presentation will accompany the lecture.

Parade of floats, marching bands, schools, public elected officials, community leaders, member organizations preceded by FIAO's Board of Directors and the 2010 Grand Marshals. Prior to the parade Mass will be celebrated at St. Athanasius Church at 11:00 am located at 61st Street and Bay Parkway, Brooklyn.

The IGG meets on the second Saturday of every month with free lectures and discussions on Italian genealogy, customs, history and culture. Guest speaker Anthony DiBartolo will discuss census sheets, passenger manifests, oral history and other information helpful to the beginner. Please call for additional information.
