The Stone, a performance space dedicated to the experimental and avant-garde music in the East village, will host Luciano Chessa on May 23rd at 10pm. As a composer, pianist, conductor, and musical saw/Vietnamese dan bau solist, the eclectic artist Luciano Chessa has been active in Europe, the U.S., and Australia. His scores, published by RAI TRADE, are often produced with the visual artist Terry Berlier. In this concert, Chessa will perform as a pianist, as well as a voice and Vietnamese dan bau solist.

After a successful premiere at the New York Film Festival, the internationally-acclaimed film Corpo Celeste opens on Friday, June 8th at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (166 West 65th St., between Columbus and Amsterdam Ave.). Having recently returned to her native Italy after living in Switzerland for ten years, quiet but curious 13-year-old Marta is left to her own devices while her loving but worn-out mother toils away at an industrial bakery. Marta’s only source of socialization is the local church, where she is told to attend preparatory classes for her confirmation.

After 75 years, the Apollo Theater continues to attract artists from all over the world. Pino Daniele made his American debut at the Apollo Theater in 2009 to a sold out audience. Now our self taught guitarist and amazing artist comes back to the States with a brand new, great tour of concerts. From the beginning of his career, it was evident that his passion lay in Rock and Blues. Greatly influenced by his own cultural background (born in Naples in 1955), his music is an outstanding and successful fusion of tradition and modernity.

On June 29th at 8:00PM, a composition written by Beatrice Barazzoni will be debuted by the Trio Parhelion as a part of the Concert Voice Concert Series.  The event will take place at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
 
The composition written by Beatrice Barazzoni was selected along with fourteen out of sixty-seven proposed pieces submitted from all over the world, and Barazzoni was the only Italian composer.
