Daniele Mastrogiacomo, a veteran correspondent for the Rome daily La Repubblica, will introduce his firsthand account of captivity under the Taliban. In his book “Days of Fear” he describes the 15 terror-filled days in the hands of those people who fight against American soldiers. Mastrogiacomo meticulously reconstructs the events of his captivity, but goes beyond the point of view of a chronicler. He tries to shed light on the Taliban’s way of thinking: who they are, their origins and lifestyle, their social and political agenda, which is their ideology and cultural background.
