In a world marked by increasing migration and globalization, the political and social rights of citizenship may not always be delivered along with the official documents. This is certainly the case in contemporary Italy, where citizenship is becoming ever more difficult to obtain, and everyday practices of racialization continue to exclude those who have struggled for years to integrate into Italian society.

Every reader of the Divine Comedy has shed more than one tear over the destiny of Francesca da Rimini, a character of which we know almost exclusively what Dante tells us about her. But after her literary birth in the Middle Ages, Francesca has come back in different incarnations in literature, music, theater and cinema. This evening is dedicated entirely to her, the most romantic and inspiring female character produced by Italian literature.

The prestigious location offered by The Corcoran Group, 22 Gramercy Park South, a dilapidated townhouse with a princely address rebuilt by the famed architect Michael Haverland, gives the International Migration Art Festival (IMAF) the opportunity to promote the artwork of two talented Italian artists living in New York City, Michela Martello and Giorgio Casu.
