The multifaceted Italian artist Neri Marcorè (actor, dubber, imitator, TV presenter and singer) makes his New York debut with an evening dedicated to his region, the Marche. In a conversation with director Giorgio Van Straten, Marcorè will recall his entire career, from his first impersonations, to his acting performances, until his more recent successes as a singer. He will conclude with a short performance, following a discussion about the “Risorgi Marche” music festival and other projects aimed at bringing back life in the communities devastated by the 2016 earthquake.

When the United States entered World War II, it subjected Italian nationals living within its borders to legal restrictions and labeled them enemy aliens. Several thousand of these people and some U.S. citizens were arrested and underwent flawed hearings; hundreds were interned. Shedding new light on this injustice, Mary Elizabeth Basile Chopas’s Searching for Subversives (University of North Carolina Press, 2017) describes how government and military leaders constructed wartime policies that affected Italian residents.

n 2017, Teatro delle Albe started to follow an artistic path with the objective of transfering the Italian MASTERPIECE that triggered the start of the Italian language and literature - the Divine Comedy - to the stage. “Some had already tried to do that: we believe that the process does not have to do with the idea of MATCHING Dante’s cantos with scenery, but rather to dig out its intimate theatrical nature.

Isidoro, known to all as Easy is lonely and depressed. His career as a young go-cart driver was interrupted when he began to gain weight and could no longer fit into the car’s cockpit. He is suddenly forced to go live with his mother. One day his “brilliant” brother Filo, visits him and proposes him an enticing job offer. The job is simple and it’s meant to get Easy out of the house and back behind the wheel. Easy is to take a coffin from Italy to a small village in the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine.
