  • Italy, thanks to the Chigago Office of the Italian Trade Commission, was present with its “Machines Italia” project at World Business Forum. The ITC also organized a discussion entitled “Challenges of Global manufacturing: Improving North American and European Competitiveness Through Cooperation”. In the historical Manhattan “Club 21”, journalists and experts of the field, including American and Italian scholars, gathered together for a special work lunch.     The plenary session “USA: La Sfida Lombarda per competere. Le opportunità di sviluppo e di investimento nel mercato statunitense” (USA: the Lombardy Challenge to Compete. Development and Investment opportunities in the US market), hosted on Sept. 27 at the NYC headquarters of the Italian Trade Commission, saw the participation of 16 companies operating in the field of high tech involved in the project “USA: Approccio Integrato all’Internazionalizzazione” (USA: Integrated Approach to Internationalization), founded by the ITC, Confindustria Lombardia, and Regione Lombardia. On a economic/institutional mission to meet their US counterparts and possible business partners, during the event they were given a key overlook of the legal, economic, and financial questions involved in making business or investing in the US market
  • During this edition of the Ferrari Festival the organizers celebrated Alfa Romeo's 100 years exhibiting cars produced before and after the war. For the occasion, Andrea Zagato presented the Z-One car, the last jewel bearing the Zagato signature, assembled in a limited number of models. The Z-One commemorates 90 years of activity of the Zagato studio
  • For the second consecutive year, Italy is represented in Saratoga Springs by the Italian Trade Commission, main partner of the Wine and Food Festival. From commercial events, to food tasting, passing through a series of workshops held by American experts, the aim of the program of these 3 days of all-Italian flavor and taste was to demonstrate the winning and versatile nature of the Made in Italy
  • On Sept. 1-2, ten of the most exclusive Italian leather, fabric, accessories and component manufacturers, exposed the new collections for Fall/Winter 2011 at the Midtown Loft and Terrace. Organized by the Italian Leather Consortium, in partnership with the Italian Trade Commission North America, the event was an occasion for American designers, stylists, and fashion gurus to have a first insight on trends, ambiances, themes, and colors for the upcoming season
  • The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Desk at the Italian Trade Commission in New York was instituted by the Ministry of Economic Development and works together with the Italian Embassy in Washington D.C. The Italian IPR Desk in NY, which is part of a network of 11 Desks located throughout the world, is to provide information and legal assistance on US intellectual property laws to Italian companies. Through a series of telephone and email discussion with the Head of the IPR Desk New York, Ms. Donatella Iaricci, Head of the Intellectual Property Rights Desk, I learned more about the PDO and PGI seals found on select Italian products.
  • At Clo's Wine Bar on June 23rd 2010 the border Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige was celebrated through a tasting of regional products that can also be bought in New York, at Di Palo Fine Foods. Event sponsored by the Italian Trade Commission, EOS (Export Organization Südtirol) and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development

    On June 7 the Italian Trade Commission awarded each of 10 students of the Italian Culinary Academy with a $5,000 scholarship. The school, founded in Soho by Mrs. Dorothy Hamilton and directed by Chef Cesare Casella, allows them to spend a long period of study and practice in Italy and become true, authentic Italian chefs
  • On March 25, the Consulate General of Italy in New York, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Commission, hosted the Gran Finale of "Mind the Bridge", an initiative aimed at introducing American investors to the most advanced and promising Italian start-up in the field of advanced technology. The purpose is to encourage US Foreign Direct Investments in Italy, and support young national talent in the pursuit of their projects and initiatives
