Conference: FRATE FRANCESCO: Traces, Words, Images

Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò
24 West 12th Street
10011 New York, NY
United States

On the occasion of the exhibition Friar Francis: Traces, Words and Images held at the United Nations from November 17-28, 2014.

The exhibition was born of the desire to know and to get to know the man, Francis, through ancient testimonies, unique and valuable, not normally accessible to the public: the Franciscan manuscripts, preserved by the Library of the Sacred Convent of Assisi are exhibited to reflect the "spirit of Assisi" in a multi-religious society. The message of Francis and his spirituals commitment, nourished by brotherhood and humility, underline his choice to side with the poor and the marginalized.
His words, for centuries, question the conscience of the people beyond their religious belief. His great humanity serves as a model of ethics and social relations.
