NEW YORK CELEBRATES BENI MONTRESOR

From June 19 to September 20 in New York, The Aida Foundation and Titivillus Mostre Editoria, The Italian Cultural Institute of New York, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts of Lincoln Center, will organize two exhibitions dedicated to the great director, cinematographer, writer, and illustrator from Verona, Beni Montresor. The event has obtained the support of the Ministry of Goods and Cultural Activities of the Region of Veneto and of the NIAF (National Italian American Foundation). The two exhibitions entitled “From Color to Light” (at Lincoln Center) and “House of Flowers, House of Stars” (at the Galleria of the Italian Cultural Institute of New York) wish to play homage to the great Maestro from Verona, who has recently passed away, and who worked extensively in Italy and abroad. His career initially switched between cinema and theater, as he created about 50 spectacles from lyrical works to ballets and films working beside great producers, one of whom was Federico Fellini. In the United States, he also discovered the profession of being an illustrator and author of children’s books, and as a result he wrote more than twenty. The exhibition “From Color to Light,” presented at The New York Public Library for Performing Arts, reviews the work of Montresor as a director, cinematographer, theatrical light designer, often in countertendency but always elegant and appropriate.
