Panel Discussion on Fortunato Depero’s Graphic Design Work

A  conversation on Fortunato Depero's graphic design work with Steven Heller and Steven Guarnaccia. Please join two experts of the design field, acclaimed writer Steven Heller and graphic designer Steven Guarnaccia, at the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) for a free panel discussion on the graphic work of Italian Futurist Fortunato Depero. In conversation with CIMA fellow and Depero scholar Raffaele Bedarida, Heller and Guarnaccia will explore the prolific artist's design philosophy and how his pivotal stay in Jazz Age-New York influenced his graphic design practice-and in turn the broader Futurist movement.

The panel coincides with the final week of CIMA's inaugural installation-focused on Depero-which, in addition to paintings, drawings, tapestries, and sculptures, also features examples of Depero's graphic work including advertising, magazine covers, and his graphic design masterpiece: the 1927 Depero Futurista, a "bolted book" displayed at CIMA both intact and unbound, each page mounted individually to form a large-scale installation.
