Exhibit "Nativity in the World". The Neapolitan Crèche in New York

Italian Cultural Institute in New York
686 Park Ave
10065 New York, NY
United States

In anticipation of the visit to New York by the Cardinal of Naples Crescenzio Sepe next January, please join the opening of the exhibition "Nativity in the World."

The exhibition presents rare Neapolitan crèches, each one of them a the a true work of art, made by masters of the Neapolitan crèche tradition belonging to the Naples branch of the historical association A.I.A.P.

Particularly, the group from the Royal Palace of Caserta, strikes the viewer with its extraordinary miniaturized details and richness of materials.

The crèche or Nativity is a three-dimensional representation of the scene at the birth of Jesus Christ and one the most important symbols for the Christian faith worldwide. The crèche illustrates the nativity as a metaphor for the advent of a "new day" bringing peace and harmony in the world.
