BAM cinématek presents a retrospective of the great modern Italian director Francesco Rosi whose films are an intensely-charged, politically-engaged and socially-committed cinema which has quite justly earned him the little of Italy’s cinematic ‘poet of civic courage’ (Senses of Cinema).Starting on August 3 and running through August 21, we are presenting several of his influential and engaging films including Lucky Luciano, Three brothers (Tre Fratelli), and Illustrious Corpses (Cadaveri Eccellenti) with onscreen performances by Gian Maria Volenté , James Belushi, Sophia Loren, and more. On Wednesday, August 3, John Turturro will be here for a Qamp;A following the 7:30 pm screening of The Truce (La Tregua).
