This recently-published book, the first full-length English-language study of Pavese in twenty years, descrives America’s impact on Pavese personally and artistically. In this evening’s discussion the author will concentrate on what Pavese found so enthralling about America in the 1920s and 30s and why he rejected American culture after Wolrd War II.
