Opera: La Clemenza di Tito

An opera seria composed by Mozart and written by Caterino Mazzolà. It was one of Mozart's last works. It was first performed in Prague in 1791. The Opera is about the life of Tito, who has become emperor of Rome by usurping the throne, and about the challenges of Vitellia, the deposed emperor's daughter, who tries to have the throne returned back to her father. The opera is a character study, a surprising story of a decent man’s guilt caused by the way he achieved power, and who in the end responds to the plots against him by granting clemency to all. Sung in Italian with Met titles in English, Italian, German and Spanish.
