On March 22nd, 2012, at 6:00pm The Italian Cultural Institute will host a Lecture on the Fondazione Zeri/Universita’ di Bologna with the participation of Anna Ottani Cavina, Director of the Foundation, and Keith Christiansen, Senior Curator of European paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Fondazione Zeri is both a center for advanced research in humanistic studies highly skilled in art history, as well as a center for the promotion of culture in the context of a dynamic, modern university with the support of a qualified international scientific committee.
The foundation has initiated partnerships with institutions such as The Getty Research Institute of Los Angeles, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies of Villa I Tatti in Florence, the Courtauld Institute of London, and the Institute National d’Histoire de l’Art (INHA) of Paris.

Biography
Anna Ottani Cavina, Director of the Fondazione Federico Zeri, is Professor of Art History at the University of Bologna and Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University SAIS Bologna Center and presently Italian Academy/Columbia University Distinguished Visiting Professor.
Named to the Légion d’honneur of the French Republic in 2001, she has published on 17th Century Painting and on the Neoclassical and Romantic periods. Her works include: Carlo Saraceni, 1968; I paesaggi della ragione, Einaudi 1994; Felice Giani e la cultura di fine Settecento, 2 vols., Electa 2000; Il diario di Thomas Jones, Electa 2003, Geometries of Silence, Columbia University Press 2004. She also planned and curated the exhibitions Paysages d’Italie.(Paris, Grand Palais 2001) ; Montagna. Arte, scienza, mito. Da Dürer a Warhol, 2003; Federico Zeri, dietro l’immagine, 2009.
Since 1988 she is a contributor to the culture pages of the Italian daily newspaper “la Repubblica”.
